The Reef Festival, one of the Whitsunday’s iconic events has (in it’s 19th year) taken on a new lease of life and re-branded to the ‘Great Barrier Reef Festival’ in a move that strengthens its ties its world famous namesake.  The new colourful logo incorporates elements of the ocean, land and festival.

Located in the vibrant coastal town of Airlie Beach, the festival is a celebration of the lifestyle in the Whitsunday’s and its affiliation to the Great Barrier Reef.  Running annually for 4 days during the 1st weekend of August it is a combination of family fun, community events, food, fireworks, carnival rides, market stalls, street parades and car shows and one of the biggest parties in the north.

The festival incorporates environmental education into the fun at the Family Fun Day focusing on the younger kids. The Rotary Street Parade is one of the most popular events with colourful floats built by businesses, community groups and schools.

It’s a festival not to be missed – something for everyone !!

As a community and tourism event local business and citizen support is what makes this happen, if you or your business would like to donate or sponsor an event please contact us to get involved.
