Free Family Fun by the Foreshore

Get ready for a huge day of FREE fun for kids of all ages at the Family Fun Day — a highlight of the Great Barrier Reef Festival and one of the most action-packed family events in the Whitsundays!

From wild competitions and hands-on workshops to reef education and live entertainment, this day is all about laughs, learning, and lasting memories.  With fantastic prizes on offer this is an event not to be missed – check back as we update the activity schedule.

Activities start from 10am and include:

Reef & Culture in Action

We’re proud to spotlight interactive reef education and cultural learning as part of the day’s experiences, Including:

🐠 Eco Barge Sculpture Tent and other eco stalls will be staffed by leading conservation, science, and government organisations.  

🐚 Daydream Island‘s Living Reef team will be on-site to share insights on coral restoration and reef care.

🚤 Coral Sea Marina Resort, along with other local tour operators including Cruise Whitsunday’s and Ocean Rafting, will be on hand to help kids explore the wonders of the reef through fun, educational activities — all leading to the famous Treasure Hunt, with amazing prizes!

Relaxation for the Grown-Ups

From 12pm, the Foreshore Pop-Up Bar opens with live music and food trucks nearby — perfect for parents to unwind while the kids burn off some energy.

Immerse Under the Fig Trees

Don’t miss the expanded ‘Immerse’ sculpture installation, lighting up the fig trees in the heart of the foreshore with marine animals crafted from recycled materials.
