Seagrass Science in Action – Learn and Replant

Join us for a morning of discovery and action with Whisper Cruises and CQUniversity marine experts as we explore the vital role of seagrass meadows in our local ecosystem. This free community event is a rare opportunity to get hands-on with marine restoration and speak directly with leading scientists.

What’s On:

Visit the Seagrass Nursery at Coral Sea Marina

Seagrass Nursery Open 8 AM – 11 AM

  • Meet the CQUniversity science team
  • Ask questions and learn about reef restoration
  • Make your own seagrass ball to help replant local meadows

Talk Sessions with Scientists:

  • 8:30 AM
  • 9:30 AM
  • 10:30 AM

After asking your questions and learning about the seagrass meadows and how the Reef Islands Initiative is building health and creating resilience in this important marine environment, you will jump onboard Whisper Cruises vessel to visit the Pioneer Bay seagrass meadow.

Complimentary Whisper Cruises Boat Tours

Whisper tours will be offering complementary boat tours to the local seagrass meadow where you can get involved.  Includes:

  • Tour the nearby seagrass meadow with expert guides
  • Help replant seagrass balls from the boat
  • Keep an eye out for resident turtles!

Tour times: 9:00 AM, 10:00 AM, 11:00 AM (Spaces limited – bookings essential)
